Moon’s Zen Moment…
As we were driving on the I5 Freeway in CA, my husband and I made a rest stop, and while I was taking in the wonderful fresh air, I came across this large memorial plaque honoring our war veterans and their tremendous sacrifices. It was a moment of reflection.
It made me think about the soldiers’ families, who also sacrificed so much for us, and how hard it must have been to not only be separated from their beloved soldiers, but to know that their husband, wife, son or daughter may not return.
I remember my mom telling me about the Korean war and how they were under the control of the Japanese, so they had very little rice to eat. My mom and her family were one of the fortunate ones who were able to escape to the southern part of Korea for safety, which is the reason why I’m here. I then reflected on the chaotic world we live in and how we are inundated with violence and wars. Have we truly lost our humanity and peaceful ways, where every time I turn on the news, there’s reporting about this troubled world?
I pray to God that we can each turn all of our fears into love, which is the only path to peace. Made me think about such great leaders as the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, et al, who believed that non-violence is the only path to peace, and I whole heartedly agree.
Thank you to our war veterans and to the soldiers now on the battlefield for all of your courage and sacrifices you made to serve and protect your fellow humans and country. I will be honored to join all of you in the eternal life….
