Moon’s Favorite Asian Thing…
I love this video about Korean women Buddhist monks, who live in a temple in the remote mountains of South Korea. With bald shaved heads and austere Korean robes that represent their ascetic life, I was so moved by these spiritual yet strong and disciplined women who dedicated their whole lives to reaching “Buddhahood” or “Enlightenment.”
In honor and celebration of the anniversary of Buddha’s enlightenment on Dec 8, these monks did not sleep for 8 days (between Dec 1-8) straight, continuously in deep meditation to honor the 6 years of extreme physical suffering Buddha experienced in order to reach Nirvana. I was so inspired by these women to nurture my own Buddhahood, which is in all of us.
They made me almost want to join their temple community!
